Creepy Crawlies at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery

Written By

Our 2nd annual Creepy Crawlies event took place Friday, October 25. Although the event was well attended last year, this year's event was even more popular with over 60 participants of all ages. This event was in partnership with the University of Kentucky Entomology Department. Colby Grant and Katie Fiske brought insect specimens and a wealth of knowledge to share. Marsha Hart and Makenzie Foster, Environmental Education/Outreach Specialists at Wolf Creek NFH, showcased Quadro and Benny, the hatchery's snakes.

There were creepy crawly crafts, temporary tattoos, and an exploration station. A walk through the Nature Trail at dusk was also a highlight of the night. The Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery provided "creepy crawly" themed snacks in a take home goodie bag. The hatchery loves hosting events for the community that combine learning and fun. Our hope is that through events like this we can foster a sense of curiosity and exploration that will inspire a continued appreciation and respect for nature and wildlife.
