Conway, Ark. – Arkansas Ecological Services Field Office launched today a new website to provide information and updates about its role in the Nimbus Wind Farm project in Carroll County, Arkansas.
“Because there is such a significant public interest in this project, we felt that it is necessary to take this proactive step to keep Carrol County informed about our permitting process,” said Field Supervisor Jason Hight.
The website informs visitors about the Habitat Conservation Plan that Scout Clean Energy and the agency have been working on since 2019. This plan addresses specific ways the business will address the conservation of threatened and endangered species in the project area.
This plan is necessary for the business to be able to apply for a permit for incidental take. Incidental take is the accidental harming of threatened and endangered species that could happen because of the project.
The website will also feature alerts to keep residents informed of the project’s progress in the permitting process and key updates about steps that involve public participation.
One public participation opportunity to look forward to is when the draft Environmental Assessment will publish which will come with a 60-day public comment period, but a date for this has not yet been set.
Also, the agency plans to hold information meeting about this assessment.
