About Sarah Saalfeld

Sarah began her career as a shorebird biologist studying Snowy Plover population and breeding ecology near Lubbock, Texas, earning a Ph.D. from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2010.  In 2011, she moved to Alaska to work as a shorebird biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Her work has focused on mapping habitat suitability for nesting waterbirds, understanding the breeding ecology and population dynamics of Arctic-nesting shorebirds, documenting shorebird migration pathways, and predicting impacts related to climate-mediated changes.
