The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uses formally adopted data standards to improve data quality and compatibility. Data standards improve our ability to share, exchange, combine and understand data. FWS utilizes NGDC A-16 Datasets in compliance with the Geospatial Data Act (GDA) of 2018 which directs agencies to use existing Federally approved standards.
