An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.
Learn more about invasive species removal event where we’ll beautify the Ankeny Hill Nature Center and Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge by removing trash, removing invasive plants, and spreading wood chips to prevent future invasive species from growing. This is a chance to learn more about native plants, remove invasive species, and tidy up trails and viewpoints on the Refuge! Event will involve walking, kneeling, wheeling heavy items, and more.

What to Bring:Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Feel free to bring a backpack for hands-free convenience. Feel free to bring your personal tools if available and a reusable water bottle to support our sustainability efforts.
What's Provided: Gloves, litter grabbers, bags, and buckets. Please BYO reusable water bottle to stay hydrated!

Parking: Spots will be available in the lot on top of the hill as you enter off Ankeny Hill Road.
