National Public Lands Day Autumn Pollination Hike

Join Columbia National Wildlife Refuge and our Friends group for a guided hike and learn about native autumn pollinating plants.

Few people think of autumn as the time of pollination. However, many plants bloom in the fall, and pollinators are every bit as active. While this hike is mainly about the plants themselves, we'll have people along to speak about birds and other critters and the fascinating geology of Columbia National Wildlife Refuge.

Meet at the trailhead. From Othello, take McManaman Road west for 5 miles to Morgan Lake Road.  Turn right, and the trailhead is 2.8 miles past (north) the Refuge Office on Morgan Lake Road.  You’ll recognize it by the freestanding basalt columns on the east side of the road.  The Rimrock Trail is 3.3 miles with an elevation gain of 200 feet (almost all in one short stretch, though).  Bring water and wear shoes appropriate for hiking uneven ground.
