Want to help support your local watershed and see some not-often-viewed parts of the refuge? Consider joining us as a water quality volunteer!
We have to trainings coming up for those interested on Wednesday, March 19th and Saturday, March 29th, both from 10am to 12pm. The training will start at the Visitor Center and will include a site visit to one of the monitoring points.
These volunteers are needed year-round to help us track changes in the stream systems on the refuge. Surveys include collecting data on water parameters (such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pH) and measuring the width, depth, and velocity of the stream. The data from these surveys inform us on the quality of the streams and can help us target certain streams for brook trout restoration.
