Chattahoochee Forest National Fish Hatchery is remotely located on Rock Creek Road 5 miles into the Chattahoochee National Forest, a perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors. - Anglers ages 16 and older are required to have a State of Georgia Fishing License and Trout Stamp. These are not provided or sold at Chattahoochee Forest National Fish Hatchery.
- Anglers please remember to bring your own fishing gear and bait. These items are not provided or sold at Chattahoochee Forest National Fish Hatchery.
- Cell service is limited to none at the hatchery and throughout the forest.
- Be aware of inclement weather conditions during the winter or damage from storms throughout the rest of the year that may result in temporary road closures due to ice, snow or downed trees and powerlines.
- The forest has a pack it in and pack it out leave no trace policy.
- There are no gas stations, stores, motels or restaurants inside the forest.
- Most important, enjoy your escape to the great outdoors!
Driving DirectionsThe hatchery is remotely located on Rock Creek Road 5 miles off of GA Highway 60 south of Morganton/north of Dahlonega. Rock Creek Road is U.S. Forest Service Road 69. GPS and cell phones do not work in the area. From either direction, stay on GA Highway 60 to the first hatchery sign which reads "Fish Hatchery Road 1/2 mile." Then, turn at the second sign at Rock Creek Road reading "Chattahoochee Forest National Fish Hatchery 5 miles." The first mile of Rock Creek Road is paved and the last 4 miles are gravel. The visitor parking area and information kiosk are on the right.
Visitors are welcome Monday - Friday. The hatchery is closed to the public on weekends and federal holidays. Other exceptions may apply. Please call the hatchery office for more information 706-838-4723.
