Visit Us
Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery is located along the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway, on the Curley Lewis Memorial Highway. When you arrive at the hatchery, a visitor parking lot will be to your left with an informational kiosk about our program. Follow the signs to the visitor lobby for self-guided tours. Depending on the time of year, you may see lake trout eggs, fry, fingerlings or yearlings. Public beach access to Lake Superior is across the road from the hatchery. A pavilion and picnic tables are available to use, as well as a boardwalk down to the lake. The hatchery is nestled within the Hiawatha National Forest of the Eastern Upper Peninsula, a four season destination for all ages!
Driving Directions
Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery is located within the Hiawatha National Forest along the shoreline of Lake Superior. The hatchery is located west of Brimley, Michigan along W Lakeshore Drive.
Fees
There is no charge to visit.
Restrooms
Restrooms are available near the visitor contact station.

Visitors can see native fish on display, obtain brochures, and view live lake trout.

If you have half a day or more
- Visit our facility, then enjoy the Lake Superior public beach access site. Have a picnic under the pavilion, then take the boardwalk to Lake Superior and spend the day at the beach.
Know Before You Go
Sun hats and insect repellant are always a good idea in the spring and summer. Be careful of tripping hazards and deep water when viewing fish inside our fish raceway building.
Activities
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities year round at Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery including birding, fishing, kayaking, swimming, picnicking, or snorkeling. Visitors can also take advantage of touring the Hiawatha National Forest which surrounds our facility.
