Laws, regulations, and treaties play a critical role in combating wildlife trafficking. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service enforces several laws and regulations, such as the Endangered Species Act, Lacey Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the Marine Mammal Protection Act which help protect imperiled species for future generations. The United States is also a party to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The Service works with global partners to enforce CITES, which helps ensure that international trade in plants and animals does not threaten their survival in the wild. You can support the Service in our efforts to end wildlife trafficking by reporting wildlife crime
