About this Collection

To mark the successful recovery and delisting of Apache trout, we've collected relevant stories, press releases, images, and other documents for use by the media.

After more than 50 years of collaborative conservation efforts by federal, state and Tribal partners, and with $5.1 million from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the Apache trout is being removed from the federal list of endangered and threatened wildlife. The restoration of Arizona’s state fish marks the first sportfish and the first trout delisted due to recovery, a significant conservation success under the Endangered Species Act. The Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, White Mountain Apache Tribe, U.S. Forest Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department, and Trout Unlimited all played a significant role in Apache trout recovery.
