Federally Threatened California red-legged frog. Chytrid fungus contributes to the decline of many amphibian species world-wide, including the federally threatened California red-legged frog. Vandenberg Air Force Base staff partnered with Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) to conduct multi-year mapping of the distribution of red-legged frogs and chytrid fungus to improve the conservation community's understanding of the effects of the fungus to juvenile and adult frogs. The base's contribution to regional efforts to track the movement of the fungus will help land managers prepare for and respond to die-off Special events.
