Before salmon season begins, Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge staff visit villages along the river to listen and discuss the forecasts for the season and conservation goals. Essential to these meetings are staff like Chris Tulik, a Refuge Information Technician who grew up in a local community and can help translate between Yupik and English.
