East Branch Little Calumet River NRDA Reports

The East Branch Little Calumet River Natural Resource Damage Assessment has had several steps. In the planning stage, the Trustees created and public noticed a “Damage Assessment Plan” describing the natural resource injury investigations that would take place. Under the Assessment Phase of the Damage Assessment, these two reports represent the actual results from our injury investigations.

The first report “Evaluating toxicity of sediments from the Little Calumet River, Indiana” has a more narrative approach to describing the extent of sediment toxicity injury to aquatic life.

The report “Negative impacts observed with sediment samples and macroinvertebrate communities from the East Branch of the Little Calumet River” is a poster presentation that summarizes in a bit more detail the contamination, sediment toxicity injury and aquatic community impacts in the assessment area.
