Hawaiin Green Sea Turtles and Marine Debris

Threatened green turtle on Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument. Derelict fishing nets, like those seen on this beach are an entanglement hazard to turtles and other marine wildlife and Monument management agencies work to remove such hazards but cannot keep pace with the estimated 57 tons of marine debris entering monument waters each year.
