As online screening tools proliferate, Federal action agencies and their designated representatives may utilize several different methods for satisfying the consultation requirements of Section 7 Section 7
Section 7 Consultation
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) directs all Federal agencies to work to conserve endangered and threatened species and to use their authorities to further the purposes of the Act. Section 7 of the Act, called "Interagency Cooperation," is the mechanism by which Federal agencies ensure the actions they take, including those they fund or authorize, do not jeopardize the existence of any listed species.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), New Jersey Field Office (NJFO) provides this Determination Tracker that action agencies may use to document Section 7 compliance for actions proposed in New Jersey. This Tracker is intended to be used in conjunction with the NJFO’s online Project Review Guide. When completed, this Tracker should be retained along with other consultation documents as part of the project administrative record. When NJFO project review is warranted, please submit this Tracker with the rest of the consultation package.
