  • Monomoy NWR's visitor center is closed.
  • The refuge trails are open.
  • Restrooms on the refuge are closed until further notice.
  • All refuge programming and events have been postponed until further notice.
  • Morris Island Loop Trail
A portion of the Morris Island Loop Trail is flooded approximately three hours either side of high tide. To access the main loop of the trail during these times please use the public right of way on Tisquantum Rd to access our trail head. Walk to the end of the refuge driveway, make a left onto Tisquantum Rd and follow through the neighborhood until you reach a split rail fence on your left and a "Private Path" sign. This path is open to the public and will take you to the rest of the Morris Island Loop Trail.
  • Road Construction on Morris Island
Between October 15th and November 5th road work on Tisquantum Rd may impact your ability to reach the refuge parking lot off Wikis Way. The greatest impact is anticipated Oct 19th and 20th when access may not be available to the parking lot and from Oct 21st -30th when there may be delays and times when the refuge parking lot is inaccessible. During those times please park along the causeway on Morris Island Rd and walk into the refuge.
  • Bluff Erosion
The bluff along the boardwalk continues to erode. For safety, a portion of the boardwalk has been temporarily re-routed and a portion of the overlook has been closed. Please comply with these closures when visiting the refuge. Unstable bluffs can collapse at any time.
