About Us
The Pacific Region Fish Health Program staff are all highly trained health experts that spend much of their time on hatcheries monitoring for diseases and environmental conditions that might impact fish health. They are important members of the fish production team, but they are also independent enough that they can confidently raise any fish health and welfare concerns whenever the need arises.
The staff of the Pacific Region Fish Health Program is composed of a mix of veterinarians that specialize in fish health, and non-veterinarian fish pathologists. Veterinarians are experts in pharmacology, drug regulations, and disease processes, and they have a strong focus on animal welfare issues. Our pathologists are likely to have more training in fisheries biology, hatchery management, and the subtle interplay of hatchery systems and fish health.
