Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1963 along the eastern shores of Galveston Bay near Houston, TX. It's purpose is to protect habitat for migrating waterfowl and songbirds along the upper Texas coast. In 1996, local residents and refuge volunteers created the Friends of Anahuac Refuge (FOAR). A year later, we were incorporated as a 501(c)3 and have been serving the refuge and the community since that time.
