MT Conservation Districts

Montana’s conservation districts partner with private landowners to keep our land and water healthy for the next generation. Led and staffed by locals, conservation districts champion balanced conservation solutions for those that they serve.

Conservation districts (CDs) are local units of government with missions that vary with the use and resource concerns of their area. In addition to many unique programs offered by individual districts, all 58 conservation districts administer stream (310) permitting in their area. Many conservation districts are also involved with watershed planning, aquatic invasive species invasive species
An invasive species is any plant or animal that has spread or been introduced into a new area where they are, or could, cause harm to the environment, economy, or human, animal, or plant health. Their unwelcome presence can destroy ecosystems and cost millions of dollars.
