The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information regarding the shooting of a bald eagle in Clayton, Delaware, in violation of federal laws.
The bald eagle is federally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
On the morning of November 9, 2023, an injured adult bald eagle was found at the Blackbird State Forest Dulany Manor Tract in Clayton, Delaware. Tri-State Bird Rescue attempted to rehabilitate the eagle but was not able to, and further investigation revealed that the eagle was shot with a firearm. Both the neck and wing contained bullet fragments.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement is seeking the help from the public for any information regarding this incident.
