LAS VEGAS, NV – On Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at 12:01 a.m., the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Clark County, Moapa Valley Fire Protection District, Mesquite Fire Rescue, Mount Charleston Fire Protection District, National Park Service, Nevada Division of Forestry, Nye County, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and USDA Forest Service are rescinding stage 1 fire restrictions in southern Nevada.
The following restrictions will be rescinded:
- Setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fire of any kind is prohibited, except campfires within approved fire pits and grills provided for in developed recreation sites. Controlled flame devices such as portable stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves, using gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel are allowed.
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or camp trailer, or while stopped or standing in a three-foot diameter area barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
- Operating or parking a vehicle or other motorized equipment over or on top of dried/cured vegetation.
- Any Hot Work involving electric or gas welding, cutting, brazing, or similar flame or spark-producing operations.

AGENCY SPECIFIC EXCEPTIONS/EXEMPTIONS OR ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS THAT REMAIN IN PLACE:
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requires the use of the provided fire rings at the Desert Pass campground at Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors are also required to use grills or the provided fire rings at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. The use of any fire ring not provided by the wildlife refuge, rock rings, and fires on open ground are prohibited. Fire is always prohibited at Moapa National Wildlife Refuge and Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.
Bureau of Land Management, Southern Nevada District Year-Round Fire Restrictions will remain in effect
All BLM managed lands will remain under a year-round fire restriction order with the following conditions prohibited:
- Possessing, discharging, using, or allowing the use of fireworks, pyrotechnic or incendiary devices.
- Possessing, discharging, igniting, or causing to burn; explosives or explosive material, including binary explosive targets.
- Discharging a firearm using tracer, incendiary, or steel-component ammunition. [Use of tracer or incendiary ammunition are always prohibited on public lands].
- Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting devise properly installed, maintained and in effective working order. (43 CFR 8343.1(c)).
Clark County
The following activities/actions are prohibited on public lands in Clark County:
- Possessing, discharging, using, or allowing the use of fireworks, pyrotechnic or incendiary devices.
- Possessing, discharging, igniting, or causing to burn; explosives or explosive material, including binary explosive targets.
- Discharging a firearm using tracer, incendiary, or steel-component ammunition. [Use of tracer or incendiary ammunition are always prohibited on public lands].
- Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting devise properly installed, maintained and in effective working order. (43 CFR 8343.1(c)).
Moapa Valley Fire Protection District
The following activities/actions are prohibited on public lands within the Moapa Valley Fire Protection District:
- Possessing, discharging, using, or allowing the use of fireworks, pyrotechnic or incendiary devices.
- Possessing, discharging, igniting, or causing to burn; explosives or explosive material, including binary explosive targets.
- Discharging a firearm using tracer, incendiary, or steel-component ammunition. [Use of tracer or incendiary ammunition are always prohibited on public lands].
Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting devise properly installed, maintained and in effective working order. (43 CFR 8343.1(c)).
Mount Charleston Fire Protection District
- Refer to the year-round Area Closure Order Issued by United States Forest Service, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (see below).
National Park Service
No discharging of fireworks, pyrotechnics, or incendiary devices.
Nevada Division of Forestry
No special conditions currently.
Nye County
No discharging of fireworks, pyrotechnics, or incendiary devices.
Pahrump, NV:
- Property owners must obtain a burn permit during burn season at 300 North Highway 160, Pahrump, NV.
- The Burn moratorium is from May 15th-November 1st. No burning is permitted during this period of time.
USDA Forest Service, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest - Spring Mountains National Recreation Area
The Spring Mountains National Recreation's year-round fire restrictions are still in place. No campfires are allowed within one mile of homes in Kyle Canyon, Lee Canyon, Cold Creek, Mountain Springs, Trout Canyon, Lovell Canyon, and Coal Springs. Signs are posted in these areas to remind the public of this restriction.
