How to Reach Us

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has 18 employees who meet the Secretary of the Interior’s qualifications for archaeologist/historic preservationist. In addition to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service archaeologist at headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia, each region has a regional historic preservation officer. Some regions also have additional archaeologists who cover geographical zones or programs or have special expertise such as historical archaeology, museum property or historic building restoration. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's historian is based at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
