Hunting is allowed on Arctic Refuge following Alaska state regulations. The refuge supports opportunities for hunting by visitors as well as subsistence hunting by local rural residents. Gwich'in and Iñupiat cultures depend on hunting caribou and many other species both for subsistence and to continue a traditional way of life.
The refuge also attracts visitors to hunt, primarily for caribou, Dall sheep and grizzly bear. A list of authorized hunting guides is available in the Tour section.
Follow Alaska state hunting regulations or (if eligible) federal subsistence regulations.
