Cache River NWR is located in the Big Woods of the Arkansas Delta and has long, hot summers, and cold, wet winters. Accommodations are limited. Biting insects, ticks, snakes, thick brush, and briars are common, so it is recommended that visitors bring drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, wear long pants, and site-appropriate foot wear. If you will be traveling any distance off trails or roadways, it is highly recommended that you bring a compass or a GPS to help you reliably navigate back to your entry point in a timely manner. To make your visit to the Cache River NWR a safe and enjoyable one, please plan accordingly.
Locations
The Visitor Contact Station/Headquarters is located 16 miles south of Augusta, Arkansas on AR-33 south. If traveling on US-64, turn south on Highway 33. Follow AR-33 approximately 16 miles and the headquarters will be on the left side (east) of the road. Once you are close there should be signs on highway intersections giving direction to the Refuge Headquarters.
