The refuge offers two maintained hiking trails (mowed) and 11 un-maintained trails. Trails may be subject to flooding during certain times of the year.
Herbert Nature Trail, open year-round is a one-mile loop, with a viewing tower overlooking a meadow and reforestation area. (See tear sheet for map.)
Paw Paw Trail, open year-round is 0.5 miles (one-way), and terminates at a photo blind overlooking asmall slough. This trail offers beautiful landscape with towering cottonwoods and bald cypresses along creeks and sloughs. (See tear sheet for map)
