General Entrance and Camping
Little Pend Oreille NWR does not require any permit, pass or fee for general entrance or camping.
Special Use Permits
The Little Pend Oreille requires a Special Use Permit for any activity on the Refuge involving groups of more than 25 persons or 10 horses. Special use permits can be obtained by contacting refuge headquarters.
Firewood Cutting
Firewood cutting for off-Refuge use is allowed by permit only. Cutting is only allowed from July 15 through October 31 and a limited number of permits are issued. Firewood cutting permits can be obtained by contacting refuge headquarters.
National Wildlife Refuge System Laws
Refuges are special places where wildlife comes first. All activities allowed on refuges must be evaluated to make sure each activity will not conflict with the reason the refuge was founded. The refuge system has special regulations about what you can do. You can find these regulations in the 50 Code of Federal Regulations - Subchapter C.
