Seasons of Wildlife
The adult Moapa dace measures an average of 3 in (7.6 cm) in length. The back and sides are an iridescent gold or bronze, marked by a dark middorsal stripe. There is a distinctive black spot at the base of the caudal fin.
Featured Species
Moapa dace (for which the refuge was established), White River springfish, Moapa pebblesnail, and Moapa riffle beetles are all endemic to Moapa Valley, which means they are found here and nowhere else in the world.
