No staff are stationed on site; the area is managed by the Southeast Idaho National Wildlife Refuge Complex office in Chubbuck, ID. The WPA is fenced and signed with WPA signs. The entire area is open to foot traffic, or small boat. The marsh is shallow and filled with vegetation; it is not conducive to motorized or large boats.
No camping is allowed on the WPA. Public campgrounds are available nearby. The Caribou-Targhee National Forest maintains several public campgrounds.
Driving Directions
Oxford Slough Waterfowl Production Area (WPA) is just east of the village of Oxford, Idaho. Turn off Route 91 about 2 miles north of the village of Swan Lake onto Road D1, continue south until the village of Oxford. Go into Oxford and take the small bypass road on the east side of town. Turn east just north of town, onto a gravel road that skirts the north edge of the waterfowl production area waterfowl production area
Waterfowl production areas are small natural wetlands and grasslands within the National Wildlife Refuge System that provide breeding, resting and nesting habitat for millions of waterfowl, shorebirds, grassland birds and other wildlife. Virtually all waterfowl production areas are in the Prairie Pothole Region states of Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

About three-quarters of a mile east of this intersection, the access road turns toward the marsh. There is a large Oxford Slough WPA sign at the entrance to this road and a nice parking area at the end. It is not advisable to try this road during wet weather or when the frost is leaving the ground in spring.

The Southeast Idaho National Wildlife Refuge Complex administers six refuges within the National Wildlife Refuge System: Bear Lake, Camas, Deer Flat, Grays Lake, and Minidoka National Wildlife Refuges, and Oxford Slough Waterfowl Production Area. The Complex office is located in Chubbuck, Idaho.
