The Swamp/Sibley Impoundments and adjacent areas are popular spots for wildlife watching. The Swamp provides roosting habitat for long-legged waders and ducks. Over ten species of freshwater mussels are known to occur here, in addition to numerous species of fish, providing terrestrial wildlife and birds an abundance food source. Bald eagles and alligators are common seasonal residents.
