Haying Opportunities at Valentine National Wildlife Refuge

Valentine National Wildlife Refuge in Valentine, Nebraska, has haying opportunities on 4 tracts, totaling approximately 700 acres. The cooperator will be responsible for providing the requested number of cattle and the necessary labor and materials to fulfill the responsibilities of the refuge haying program. Haying operations may begin August 15, 2022. Hay and equipment must be removed from the refuge by September 30, 2022.

Completed applications may be mailed or hand-delivered to the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, 39679 Pony Lake Road, Valentine, Nebraska 69201. Applications must received by 12 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022. The minimum bid is $20 per acre.

The opportunities will be awarded to the highest bidders who meet minimum objective qualifications. If multiple bidders bid equally, a tie-breaker drawing will be held among those with the highest bid. All bids will be opened within one business day. Cooperator selection will be announced by August 12, 2022. Successful bidders will be notified by telephone or email and issued a Special Use Permit.
