Overview
The Canoe Creek clubshell is a freshwater mussel known only from the Big Canoe Creek Watershed, a western tributary to the Coosa River in St. Clair and Etowah counties, Alabama.

Physical Characteristics
It is a medium-sized mussel up to 3.8 inches (97 mm) in length, with a moderately thick shell.
Life Cycle
From late spring to early summer, females release packages, called conglutinates, of parasitic larvae or glochidia that will hopefully come into contact with minnows in the genus Cyprinella which will be able to host the larvae until they reach the juvenile life stage and settle into stream bottoms to begin a sedentary lifestyle.
