Overview
Polyscias flynnii, a member of the Araliaceae (ginseng) family, is a well-branched, andromonoecious (bisexual and male flowers on the same plant) tree 7 to 9 m (23 to 30 ft) tall. Leaves are pinnately compound with 5 to 9 leaflets. The inflorescence is densely brown pubescent throughout. P. flynnii differs from P. kavaiensis (ohe ohe), which occurs on Kauai but is also found elsewhere in the Hawaiian Islands, by having both hermaphrodite and staminate flowers, a fully inferior ovary, with a calyx rim expanded, borne at the top of the fruit, disk concave, surmounted by a conical stylar column.
