Overview
Geranium hanaense (nohoanu), a small, prostrate (spreading) shrub in the Geraniaceae (geranium) family, is usually less than 0.6 m (2 ft) tall with occasional individuals up to 1.5 m (5 ft) tall. Branches root as they spread. The alternate leaves are covered densely with long, silky hairs on both the upper and lower surfaces, and margins are entire except at the apex with 3 to 5 shallow teeth. Geranium hanaense produces 3- to 10-flowered inflorescences with most having six flowers. The flowers are white or white with purple-magenta lines radiating throughout and 8 to 15 mm (0.3 to 0.6 in) long. Seeds are one per cell.
