About Scott Lamont
Scott W. Lamont is a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the Alabama Ecological Services Field Office (ALFO) in Daphne, Alabama. In this capacity his primary responsibilities include Section 7 Section 7
Section 7 Consultation
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) directs all Federal agencies to work to conserve endangered and threatened species and to use their authorities to further the purposes of the Act. Section 7 of the Act, called "Interagency Cooperation," is the mechanism by which Federal agencies ensure the actions they take, including those they fund or authorize, do not jeopardize the existence of any listed species.
Learn more about Section 7 consultations and serving as the recovery biologist and species lead for a portfolio of 9 listed species throughout the state. Along with these duties, he is also the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers liaison, Coast Guard liaison, and serves as the lead contact for military projects on military installations throughout Alabama. Scott is heavily involved in coaching and mentoring others and has developed partnerships with the NOAA Gulf Corps, University of South Alabama, and he regularly participates in high school and college career days and other community events representing the Service whenever he can. Scott previously served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and was able to become an employee with the Service in 2021 through the Skillbridge program.
