Minnesota Valley NWR - Experience the Waterfowl Migration

We’ll be hearing more honks and quacking as waterfowl make their way back to their breeding grounds. With marshes, lakes, rivers and wetlands, the refuge is an attractive stop for migrating waterfowl. Make a visit to Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge to view the surge of these feathered visitors. 

Waterfowl to View: 

  • Geese – Canada Goose 

  • Swans – Trumpeter Swan 

  • Ducks – Wood Duck, Mallard, American Black Duck, Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Canvasback, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Greater Scaup, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Ruddy Ruck

  • Mergansers – Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser
