The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is excited to announce two FY22 Notice of Funding Opportunities under the Highlands Conservation Act (HCA) for land acquisition projects. The HCA request for proposals is currently open. A total of $5.84M is available to state agency partners for the Base Funding Round, and $14.2M is available for the Competitive Funding Round, with an application deadline of October 31, 2022.
The Highlands Conservation Act Program provides 50% matching funds to state conservation agency partners for land acquisition projects within the Highlands Region of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Since 2007, the program has completed 100 projects and conserved 12,834 acres of land. Land conservation projects focus on conserving critical wildlife habitat, protecting water resources, securing agricultural and forested lands, and expanding outdoor recreation access.
