Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery held the 9th Annual Wounded Warrior Fishing Event for any veteran who suffered an injury related to their service. With the help of multiple sponsors, volunteers, and staff participants were able to enjoy a full day of free fishing, fun, and fellowship.
Beginning at 5 a.m., the 20 participants were provided breakfast and coffee before boarding one of the 7 striper guide boats who had volunteered their time and equipment for the event. After several hours of fishing, a total of 13 stripers, two catfish, and a walleye were successfully reeled in! The fishing guides also volunteered to process and bag the fish that were caught, allowing each veteran to leave with a portion of the day’s catch.
Lunch was provided by the Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, Inc. Following a patriotic ceremony performed by the Russell and Adair County Honor Guard, participants were dismissed for an afternoon of trout fishing at Hatchery Creek. Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery is proud to give back to those who have given the most, and would like to thank each of these anglers for their service
