Brown pelicans and herring gulls

Brown pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) and herring gulls (Larus argentatus) congregate on the beach on Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. Right now there is a nice assortment of birds, both on the ocean and sound sides of the refuge. Visit Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge to see a selection of migratory ducks, white pelicans, tundra swans, egrets, herons, bald eagles, kingfishers and much more.
