Happy pollinator week! Pollinators keep our world spinning round. These small superheroes are responsible for one of our three bites we take and pollinating nearly 90% of flowering plants. The act of pollination has a important cascading impact on the surrounding landscape. When a pollinator visits a flower, it sets in motion a chain of events that leads not only to seeds, but eventually helping the plant to lock carbon in the soil. Everything is connected; the plants rely on pollination to survive, and in turn, produce oxygen for us to breathe, help keep our soil stabilized through their root system and filter water during flood events, supporting water quality.
