Disparate data streams together yield novel survival estimates of Alaska-breeding Whimbrels

Kanuti biologist Chris Harwood has co-authored a paper with U. S. Geological Survey colleagues that has been published at https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ibi.13273. The paper is titled “Disparate data streams together yield novel survival estimates of Alaska-breeding Whimbrels” and describes the complementary use of different tracking methods (traditional tagging and on-the-ground resighting of Whimbrels at Kanuti Refuge versus satellite telemetry for Whimbrels at the Colville River) to ultimately derive better estimates of survival for these birds. This is the third collaborative publication between Harwood and the Alaska Science Center studying Whimbrels in the Refuge.
