Environmental Education/Outreach Specialist, Marsha Hart attended the 2024 Kentuckiana Fly Fishing Show in Shepherdsville, KY on Saturday, January 20. This annual event is hosted by the Derby City Fly Fishers group out of Louisville, KY.
Despite the extreme cold temperatures multiple agencies, guide services, and tackle shops were in attendance to promote, educate, and provide supplies for the fly fishing sport. Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery's booth provided a stocking map, brochures, information about upcoming events, giveaways for adults and children, all while engaging in conversations about the hatchery and stockings across the state. Of course, there were also lots of fishing tales to be shared all around!
This event had an attendance of 350+, and was a day for anglers/future anglers to come together and enjoy a day all about fly fishing. We are always happy to attend events such as this that go along with the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service which is "To work with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people."
