The Bozeman Fish Health Center Staff participated in the annual Gallatin Valley Earth Day Festival. This is a local partner event to help our community promote environmental awareness and honor our planet. The festival offered a range of fun and informative virtual and in-person events (January-May). The theme for this year’s events was: Under One Canopy - Celebrating Trees and Forests.

The Earth Day Festival key event was held on Saturday, April 20 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Bozeman, MT and included live music, food, information booths, exhibits, presentations, workshops, talks, short films, Earth Day Fun Run, face painting, petting zoo, and activities for the entire family. The Bozeman Fish Health Center staff set up an information booth with kid-friendly activities including spinning the wheel with several fish identification and pollinator identification questions and a chance to win prizes. Many freebies were available including Native Wildflower planting kits, Native Wildflower seed mix packets, Pollinator seed mix packets and several types of vegetable seed packets Earth Day stickers, National Park stickers, Pollinator stickers, fish stickers, Swedish fish candies, pollinating handouts, pollinator bookmarkers, coloring and activity books, carabineers, tape measures, frisbees, reusable water bottles, pencils, and pens. 

Numerous booth visitors said they have had great luck growing the Native Wildflower seed mixes in the past and look forward to visiting our booth every year. This year we expanded on the Native Wildflower seed mix concept and made  the pollinator seed mix and vegetable seeds available.      

The Bozeman Fish Health Center staff had a fantastic time and gave out lots of information and answered many questions regarding fish health, our fisheries program, pollinators and pollinating plants and Native Wildflowers. Total estimate of attendees surpassed previous years, with approximately 1,700 attendees. 

Gallatin Valley Earth Day Festival is an annual event encouraging local citizen action to help our planet from right here in the Gallatin Valley. It is a free annual event and open to the public.
