Professional Fly Fisherman, Bill Carman, of Kentucky Wild Outdoors led continued the Fly Fishing 101 Workshop at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery. Beginning in the classroom, this workshop provides all the necessary information needed to get started fly fishing. Bill covers equipment needed, how to read a stream, tying different knots, different casting techniques, etc.
Once participants had mastered tying knots and perfecting their cast, they were able to put their new skills to the test on Hatchery Creek! Bill guided the new anglers in applying what they learned in the classroom to the stream by further explaining casting techniques depending on water depth, surroundings, weather, etc. By the end of the day, the workshop proved successful with multiple participants catching their first fish on the fly!
