Continuing Traditions with Trout Unlimited
Delayed Harvest season started on the Toccoa River. As has been the norm for several years, Trout Unlimited has assisted in the stocking efforts on this day. They bring manpower, buckets, and float boats to aid in spreading the fish out. Without their help and their float boats, many spots on the Toccoa River would not see fish without natural movement of the fish. This year, Deputy Project Leader Joseph Helseth took 400 brook trout and placed them in a lower section of raceways as an experiment to see how well those fish would grow. The brook trout reached a length of 14 inches and the members of Trout Unlimited were happy to see them.
