Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
Join the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service volunteer team at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center! We are currently seeking volunteers to help staff our Center and assist visitors. Volunteers may work alone but couples are also welcome.
We request a commitment of 2, 4-6 hour shifts per month, we have the largest need on Friday and Saturday. This is usually a slow-paced relaxing job. It involves assisting visitors, orienting them to the refuge and the visitor center, giving directions, and answering general nature related questions. The position also includes general office tasks such as answering the phone, filling brochure racks, and taking reservations for programs.
While you are often the only person at the information desk you will work with a wonderful staff and other volunteers, not only from the refuge but also from the refuge friends group.
