Volunteer Position Overview
About This Position
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is a beautiful, open marsh with tons of diversity and birds, birds and more birds! Our Refuge supports the "big 6", (hunting, fishing, environmental education, interpretation, photography and wildlife observation) and we have visitors from all over the globe. Volunteers are needed to help staff two visitor centers, and Friends of Anahuac nature stores, on Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. As a volunteer, you'll primarily hand out brochures, answer the phones, give directions, and help visitors make the most of their visit. In addition, you'll be selling items for the Friends of Anahuac Refuge by ringing up purchases and occasionally restocking.
We ask for 24 hours/person, per week in exchange for full hook ups (electricity, non-potable water, and sewer). We also have a community building onsite with laundry facilities, 2 restrooms, a full kitchen and living area for socializing. Your drinking water is provided in the community building through a reverse osmosis system.
