A small seasonal wetland at Tew Waterfowl Production Area in the Charles M. Russell Wetland Management District is surrounded by a sea of lush grassland. Seasonal wetlands of this type are teeming with insects, shorebirds, and waterfowl, the latter two which rely upon the insects as protein for egg yolk production and food for subsequent brood rearing.
