The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company own and manage the world famous Chincoteague ponies. Since these animals live on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, the fire company works closely with refuge staff to balance habitat conservation with preservation of the cultural history that these ponies represent.
