The western United States’ sagebrush country encompasses over 175 million acres of public and private lands. The sagebrush landscape provides many benefits to our rural economies and communities, and it serves as crucial habitat for a diversity of wildlife, including the iconic greater sage-grouse and over 350 other species.
Learn more about sagebrush -grassland core in northeast Montana. Improved grazing management reduces livestock impact on sensitives areas that may have been degraded in the past. More intensive rotation and longer rest periods between grazing contributes to increased carbon storage in the soil and increases the operation's resillience to drought. By working with local ranchers and contractors, funding contributes to community vitality and sustainability.
